Hewson have been shortlisted for the Sustainability Award at the Ground Engineering Awards 2017, for our work at Edinburgh Gateway Station (opened at the end of 2016).

As part of the work we undertook on this impressive project, we proposed and designed upgrades to an existing retaining wall in order to increase its design life to 120 years; thereby enabling it to be used in the permanent works.  This avoided the previous need to demolish the existing retaining wall and build a new one from scratch – saving materials and construction operations, as well as reducing costs.
