As part of our summer programme we challenged our students and graduates to build a model bridge from straws and pins that could support 1kg over a span of 750mm. 

Team “Big Load”  designed and built the most efficient (lightest) design at 66 grammes that could carry this minimum load and was declared the winner.   We train our engineers to design efficiently by thinking carefully about the conceptual decisions they make and the process they follow. 

Well done to all the teams that took part.  We had great fun testing the bridges to destruction at the end!!
