Fort Widley – Fareham 33 kV Cable Scheme
Client: Scottish & Southern Electricity
Location: England
Year completed: 2022
Services: Feasibility study

We were appointed by Scottish & Southern Electricity to undertake a feasibility study for a reception compound to facilitate a horizontal directional drilling scheme on a chalk slope for a new underground cable route,
We worked with SSE to develop a phased installation of temporary works, and excavation for the underground cable route with subsequent reinstatement of the area of the toe of the slope within a Site of Special Scientific Interest (SSSI).
The design scheme recommended involves phased installation of steel sheet piling for the temporary works to support the three phases of excavation and filling to Natural England and highway standards.
We were appointed at feasibility stage following a site meeting the SSE Lead Environmental Technical Lead, SSE Feasibility Studies Engineer and Site delivery team to view this important environmental site.
