Poole – Wareham 132kV cable scheme
Client: Scottish & Southern Electricity (SSE)
Location: England
Year completed: 2022
Services: Detailed design

The scheme is part of Scottish and Southern Electricity’s £3.7m Poole – Wareham Network Upgrade along a 2.5km cable route between Poole Grid and Hams Common Tower compound.
This project is to allow for a stronger network with capacity for future commercial and residential connections to benefit over 19,000 Poole residents.
We were appointed to undertake temporary works design and detailing for the strutting, props and retained excavation for the joint bays along the route. There were four joint bays along an alignment which commenced at the Poole substation in Rigler Road, running to the compound in Hercules Road.
Our design and detailing considered a number of propping arrangements in timber and steel, as well as a range of sizes, to assist with the shortage of material experience in 2021.
