We were appointed by JSM to provide technical advice on the installation of new services and to design a duct support system through an existing multi cell reinforced concrete ramp.  The 82m long structure supports the carriageway of Blackburn Road as it ramps up to a junction.

The west end wall is reinforced concrete and the east wall is contiguous piles.

The ducts for new services (6no. 100mm telecoms ducts, 1no. 180mm water and 4no. 120mm ID HV ducts ) are fixed on cantilever brackets or hung from the soffit. The design included details for coring new ducts through a reinforced concrete and a bored pile wall with details on how to maintain watertightness.

The layout of the ducts was set out in 3D to the restrictions defined for each service. The HV supplier required a straight route to allow installation and maintenance without the need to access the confined space.
