Barking Riverside is to become a mixed-used development in the east of London. The existing land was formerly occupied by Barking Power Station, adjacent to River Thames. Upon completion of the project, the development will provide over 10,000 homes.
Hewson carried out a variety of temporary works that included the design of Haul Roads/Working platforms for site plant and machinery, trough protection system for protecting vital rail services below ground along the rail line, RRAP (Rail-Road Access Points) for a smooth access point to allow articulated lorries to transfer over existing rail line, Perimeter Fence across a compound and numerous sheet piling/trench sheeting designs for pier installations and others.
The weak alluvium present below the ground posed great challenges that were dealt with throughout the different working items located across Barking Riverside location.
