A new flyover was required to carry the Muara-Tutong Expressway over a new access road for a new housing development.

The bridge is a three-span fully integral structure with a maximum span length of 25m and built by the top-down method of construction, the first of this kind in Brunei.

A precast concrete ‘I’ beam composite deck was built integral with the piers and abutments. The deck was cast at ground level in stages to suit the diversions of the expressway and connected to the piles before excavating the ground from underneath.

We were appointed by Bolton Hennessey, on behalf of the Brunei Public Works Department, to undertake detailed design of the bridge.
