Jeremy Barnes, one of our associate directors together with John Gill, Principal Engineer at HOCHTIEF (UK) have written an article on “The design and construction of the Pont Briwet Viaduct, UK”. Their article has been published in the Proceedings of the Institution of Civil Engineers- Bridge Engineering, ‘Themed issue on innovation in bridge construction’ in June 2018.
The paper describes the analysis undertaken to prove movement provision was not required and describes how this influenced the arrangement and detailing. They also talk about the challenges met during construction and posed by the integral nature of the viaduct.
