Hewson received confirmation of our Cyber Essentials certification this month from the British Standards Institution. The Cyber Essentials scheme is a key deliverable of the UK’s National Cyber Security Programme. Realising that the controls in the 10 Steps to Cyber Security were not being implemented effectively, and that no existing, individual standard met its specific requirement, the government developed the Cyber Essentials scheme.

The scheme focuses on 5 key areas:

• Secure Configuration
• Boundary Firewalls and Internet Gateways
• Access Control and Administrative Privilege Management
• Patch Management
• Malware Protection

We are delighted to have received this confirmation of the security of our IT systems, and look forward to continuing to maintain best practice in this crucial area, to protect our information and that of our clients.
