Big lift for Hong Kong’s Southern Bridge

We are pleased to see the successful completion of the final erection for the Southern Bridge project at Tseung Kwan O in Hong Kong for the Civil Engineering and Development Department.

The 100m-long prefabricated steel main span and the two side spans were individually lifted onto the concrete piers using a large-capacity crane barge, which enabled the entire process to be completed in only three working days thus minimising impact on the surroundings.

We were main contractor, CRBC’s designer providing a range of design, erection engineering and BIM services including permanent works foundations and all the temporary works.

We used 3D visualisations to simulate the detailed bridge erection process which helped facilitate advanced planning of the site works.
