We were involved in the scheming and detailed design of a mainline railway bridge replacement scheme within Blackfriars Station in London.

The project included underpinning and strengthening of existing bridge foundations, preliminary design of the temporary slide beam and towers, temporary props for the permanent works to ensure stability in the temporary condition. We also conducted design checks of the permanent works and provided detailed design of a temporary rail bridge.

The bridge replacement scheme was undertaken during a week-long full track possession on the Christmas of 2009. We supported the contractor during the original tender for the project and worked closely with them throughout the construction period. The new station was fully opened in 2012.
