We were appointed as the consulting structural engineer to provide structural engineering advice on an existing two storey building constructed in the 1960’s as a dance studio for the Bellairs Schools of Dance and Drama. Following advice prior to purchase we were engaged to undertake a visual inspection of the existing building in order to establish the structural framing for the purposes of considering redevelopment options by a local church.

The building is located in the centre of Guildford, on a sloping site and was constructed accordingly, with the ground floor constructed into the slope and being less than the overall footprint of the building. Unusually the building was constructed in two phases, with the first phase retaining an existing building that part-occupied the site. We undertook record searches to confirm the building construction and to inform the structural advice we provided to the client on redevelopment options.

We were then retained to provide Tender support, and on award to provide construction support for the Refurbishment.
