Our track record in tunnels and underground structures covers a diverse range of types and geological conditions. We have worked on large tunnels carrying major transportation links, small tunnels accommodating sensitive utilities, and a good number of underground railway stations. Our international project experience means that we have dealt with a huge spectrum of different ground conditions, ranging from soft soils to hard rocks and from mountainous terrain to reclaimed land.
Tunnels and underground structures are playing an increasingly important role in creating new space without occupying and disturbing the valuable surface land above. The choice of their structural form is often influenced by the constraints imposed by the land they pass through and driven by the feasible construction methods. Our holistic approach to designing underground works focuses on the excavation methods and associated temporary works as much as on the permanent works themselves, resulting in well-balanced, highly efficient and buildable solutions.
